BRONX, N.Y. – Monday is Gameday for the Lehman College men's and women's swimming and diving teams as the Lightning will head to Throggs Neck, N.Y. to battle Bronx rival SUNY Maritime in a non-conference meet, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The women will be led by freshman
Angela Mejia (Bronx, N.Y.) who is coming off a triple-winning effort at John Jay. She won both the 50 and 100-freestyle races and was also a member of the winning 200 medley relay team.
This will be the second meet of the season for the men's team which took second place overall in the Mount Saint Vincent Relay Meet, scoring a total of 76 points. Sophomore
Carlos Alonso (Yonkers, N.Y./Saunders) along with juniors
Abel Dupres (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton),
Jeremy Guerra (Bronx, N.Y./Dreamyard Prep), and
Anthony Preda (Long Island City, N.Y./Basha) earned gold in the 200 medley relay and the 200-free relay. The Lightning also earned first place in the 200-fly relay, as Alonso, Dupres, Guerra, and junior
Enes Mernica (Bronx, N.Y./Belmont Prep) combined to finish the race in 1:42.96.
