Swimmers Drop CUNYAC Matches To Brooklyn

Bronx, N.Y. – Both Lehman College swimming and diving teams dropped CUNYAC encounter to visiting Brooklyn College on Wednesday evening at The APEX Pool.  The Lightning men lost 185-16, while the women dropped 109-73 decision.

Amya Sanchez led the way for Lehman women (1-6; 0-2 CUNYAC) as she claimed gold in the 100 Freestyle and 200 IM with times of 1:03.04 and 2:48.72, respectively.  Sanchez was also part of the winning 200 Medley Relay side along with Liberty Almazar, Patrica Soriano and Mariella Nunez as they clocked in at 2:23.48.  Also finishing first for the Lightning were Shivani Raghuthu, Xhesika Malecaj, Meryem Alakus and Anastacia Maseda in the 200 Freestyle Relay race (2:45.33).

The only highlight for the Lehman men (1-4; 0-1 CUNYAC) on Wednesday was at the 200 Freestyle Relay as Steven Perez, Joseph Fernandez, Brahian Rosario-Ortiz and Nelson Valette took silver with a time of 2:09.43.  Fernandez also finished third in the 200 Freestyle clocking in at 2:51.74.

The Lightning will be back in action next month with its first match of 2026 when it travels to Patchogue, N.Y. to take on St. Joseph's University-LI on January 12th at 2 pm ET.
