Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BRONX, N.Y. – With the day's high temperature barely scraping 36 degrees, the Lehman College baseball team dropped a doubleheader to the College of Mt. St. Vincent, 12-4 and 13-7, on Sunday. The games served as the home opener for Lehman.

Lehman (1-7) struggled on the mound all day, with eight different pitchers taking the mound in the two games.

In the opener, CMSV (4-6) scored three runs in the top of the first, as Lehman's Justin Moises (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) saw his first action of the season. The Lightning rallied in the bottom of the third, plating four runs on two hits. With the bases loaded and one out, senior Michael Liang (Bronx, N.Y./Manhattan Center) drew a walk to bring home the Lehman's first run. Junior Tom Liang (Bronx, N.Y./Manhattan Center) then grounded to third, plating Lehman's second run. With the bases loaded once again, junior first baseman Carlos Alcantara (Yonkers, N.Y./Saunders) reached on an infield error, sending freshman Thomas Montilli (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) home. Up next was senior Socrates Peralta (Santo Domingo, D.R./Morris), who drew a walk, sending Mike Liang home.

Suddenly down 4-3, the Mount recovered, with four runs in the top of the fourth, and another four in the top of the fifth. The final run came for CMSV in the sixth inning.

In Game Two, once again CMSV scored before Lehman came to bat, with two in the top of the first. Lehman responded with a five-run outburst in the bottom of the second, highlighted by a Michael Liang homerun. Senior Kevin Hernandez (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton), who had singled home a pair of runs earlier in the inning, scored on Liang's blast.

CMSV scored four runs in the third inning, and another four runs in the fourth, to take control of the game.

Lehman's final two runs came in the bottom of the seventh, on a two-run homerun to right by junior Danny Rodriguez (New York, N.Y./Pennsbury).

Lehman will regroup, and host Bronx rival Maritime College on Wednesday, March 19, at 7:00 p.m.
