#7 Men's Soccer Edged by #2 Brooklyn in CUNYAC Quarterfinals

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The #7 men's soccer team suffered a hard-fought CUNY Athletic Conference Quarterfinal match to #2 Brooklyn College, 2-1, at Brooklyn College Field on Wednesday afternoon. The Lightning are now eliminated from the CUNYAC Championships, while the Bulldogs earned a spot in the conference semifinals, which will take place on Saturday.

All three goals in the contest were scored in the second half. After Brooklyn (9-7-2) scored the first goal in the 48^th minute, Lehman (8-8-1) countered less than three minutes later. Freshman Douglas Venancio Dos Santos took a feed from sophomore Brandon Melendez Ruiz and buried his fourth goal of the year, to tie the match at one with less than 39 minutes remaining in regulation time.

Both teams continued to battle hard in the heavy win and rain. Brooklyn was able to break through and score the game-winning goal in the 86^th minute. Jean-Luc Saint-Fleur's shot was able to sneak into the net. Brooklyn was able to wind the clock down and clinch the victory.

Junior goalkeeper Irvin Barreto made seven saves to help keep the Lightning in the match. Brooklyn narrowly outshot Lehman, 14-12, and had the advantage in corner kicks, 6-3."
