BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team will battle Brooklyn College in the quarterfinals of the CUNY Athletic Conference Championships, on Wednesday beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Brooklyn College Field. The Lightning earned the #7 seed, while the Bulldogs will be the #2 seed.
In their regular season meeting this season, the Lightning (8-7-1, 3-4-1 CUNYAC) and Bulldogs (8-7-2, 5-1-2 CUNYAC) battled to a 1-1 draw on the South Field, on October 17. Senior defender
Maurice Whyte scored Lehman's lone goal off a corner kick in the 34
th minute, to tie the match at one goal apiece.
The Lightning played the majority of the second half, and all of extra time, with a man down but never allowed Brooklyn to regain the lead. Lehman goal keeper
Irvin Barreto was credited with nine saves while his counterpart Ilya Keygen recorded six saves. Lehman owned a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Last season, Lehman and Brooklyn squared off in the CUNYAC Quarterfinals. The #2 Bulldogs surged past the #7 Lightning, 4-1.
