Full ResultsBRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College swimming and diving teams settled for a split against SUNY Maritime, on Wednesday evening, in the APEX Swimming Pool. The women's team won 111-95, while the men fell 134-107. Both Lehman programs are now 3-1.
The women's team was led by sophomore
Angela Mejia, who was a triple-winner. She earned first place in the 100-breast with a time of 1:17.16. She won the 100-free by less than a second, completing the race in 1:00.65. The third race Mejia won was the 50-free, completing the event in 26.63, exactly one minute ahead of the runner-up.
Freshman
Jessica Reynoso and senior
Melody Ovalles each won two races for the Lightning. Ovalles won the 200-free (2:24.57) and 100-back (1:14.79). Reynoso earned victories in the 200-IM (2:27.86) and narrowly won the 100-fly (1:08.54) by less than a second.
For the men, senior
Enes Mernica won both long distance events. He won the 1,000-free in 11:13.24, while earning gold in the 500-free, with a time of 5:27.12. Junior
Andy Almonte won both the one meter and three meter diving events.
Senior
Jeremy Guerra won the 100-free with a time of 2:11.37, while classmate
Anthony Preda earned first place in the 100-breast, completing the event in 59.69.
The women's team will host Hunter on Tuesday, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The men will host CSI on Friday, December 18, at 6:00 p.m.
