Men's Soccer Suffers First Loss of the Season to New Paltz

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, to SUNY New Paltz, by a score of 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.

New Paltz scored two goals in the first half, and then added an insurance goal in the second to secure the victory.

Junior goalkeeper Irvin Barreto (Brooklyn, N.Y./Matin Luther King, Jr.) stopped five shots, while classmate Jesus Marin (East Harlem, N.Y./Manhattan Village Academy), who started the match in net, recorded two saves.

Freshman midfielder Christopher Mulholland (Mahopac, N.Y./JFK Cathedral) and junior defender Ramone Rowe (Bronx, N.Y./Knox College H.S.) each produced a shot on goal. For the game, the Lightning were outshot 24-6. New Paltz also had the edge in corner kicks with nine, while Lehman had two.

Lehman's road trip will continue on Wednesday, when the Lightning battle the Panthers of Old Westbury, at 4:00 p.m.
