BRONX, N.Y. --- The Lehman College swimming and diving program split their results on Thursday night hosting Baruch College at the APEX Aquatic Center, with the men claiming a 134-103 victory while the women dropped their result, 123-101.
The Lightning women (4-4, 1-3 CUNYAC) broke a school record in the 200 yard medley relay, as the quartet of
Melody Ovalles, Elizabeth Oladele,
Jessica Reynoso and
Angela Mejia finished with a time of 2:01.91. Reynoso was Lehman's top scorer with 18 points, winning the 200 IM (2:22.14) and the 100 Fly (1:05.40). Mejia had gold medals in the 50 Free (26.76) and the 100 Free (59.82).
Gabriela Rodriguez won both diving events, with 140.18 points in the 3-meter and 106.20 in the 1-meter.
The men (4-2, 1-1 CUNYAC) took their first conference win of the season, led by
Enes Mernica with 22 points. Mernica claimed the gold medal in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:04.22, and in the 500 yard freestyle, clocking in at 5:13.58.
Anthony Preda took first in the 100 yard breaststroke at 59.35, and was the winner of the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:04.22. Preda's time in the 100 breast was a new school record.
Andy Almonte was tops in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, with 164.10 and 168.23 points, respectively.
The Lightning will be back in the pool on Saturday when they travel to William Patterson University for a 1:00 p.m. meet.
