Lehman Swim and Diving Teams are Back in Action

Bronx, NY - The Lehman College swimming and diving teams look to get back on the winning track as they travel to CUNYAC foe York College tonight.

The Lehman women come into tonight with a mark of 4-5 overall and 1-3 in conference meets. Just this past weekend the Lightning fell to William Paterson. Against the Pioneers Gabriela Garcia earned the top spot in the 100 freestyle and swim a leg of the victorious 4 X 200 m free relay. Gabriela Rodriguez (3 meter diving) and Claudia Rodriguez (100 breast) also earned victories for the Lightning.

York on the other hand sits at 1-7 and is looking for their first conference victory. Their sole win was against Bard. In a tri-meet last week, the Cardinals fell to both the College of Westbury and the US Merchant Marine Academy.

The Lehman men are 4-3 overall and 1-1 in CUNYAC. This past weekend the Lightning stepped out of the CUNYAC and fell to William Paterson. Enes Mernica and Anthony Preda were double winners for Lehman. Mernica took home the gold in the 1000 and 500 m freestyle. Preda was victorious in the 100 fly and 100 breast.

The York men stand at 1-5:0-2. After opening the season with a victory over Mt. St. Vincent, the Cardinals have now dropped five straight. In their last outing, a tri-meet with Old Westbury and the Merchant Marine Academy, the Cardinals came out on the short end of both decisions.

Lehman will return home to the APEX Pool on Friday night to face Mt. St. Mary's at 6:00 PM.
