Brooklyn, NY - Three first half goals was all the Lehman College men's soccer team needed as they shut out the Cougars of Medgar Evers 3-0 to remain unbeaten in league play. The Lightning improve to 8-3-3 overall and 6-0-2 in conference play.
With the victory the Lightning clinch the number one seed in the upcoming CUNYAC post season tournament and will get a bye into the semi-finals on Saturday, October 29.
The win was Lehman's fourth straight.
Omar Moro tallied the first goal of the game just after a couple of minutes of play.
Essosa Aluyi was credited with the assist.
King Owusu doubled the lead off a pass from Abdulaye Bassirou. Aluyi also netted a goal off an assist from Moro for the final tally of the night.
Irvin Barreto played all 90 minutes in goal and preserved the shut out; his sixth of the year.
The Lightning do have one more regular season contest remaining. Lehman will host St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) on Saturday at noon. Before the game the Lightning will honor the four seniors on the squad.
