Box Score Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer came out of the gate with an early goal that set the tone for a season high seven goals in the match as they defeated CUNYAC foe York (N.Y.), 7-2 , Wednesday night at the South Field.
The Lightning (5-3-3, 3-0-2 CUNYAC) extended their unbeaten streak in conference play to five games and move up to sole possession of second place in the CUNYAC.
They were sparked by two goals and an assist from
Ramone Rowe in the win.
King Owusu and
Essosa Aluyi tallied a goal each, increasing Aluyi's team-high to five goals on the season.
Rafael Emiliano,
Luis Andrade, and
Florent Mvogo all earned their first goals of the season.
York (0-11-1, 0-4-1 CUNYAC) got a goal apiece from Huguens Smith and Fabrice Pierre-Paul in a losing effort, while keeper Nigel Sampson made seven saves.
Lehman wasted little time jumping ahead with Emiliano's goal 1:23 into the game when he beat the offside trap of the Cardinals and put it past the keeper. Following strong defense, Rowe extended the lead at 31:15 after recovering a blocked shot on the wing. Owusu added to the advantage with a goal less than three minutes later and would take a 3-1 lead into halftime.
In the second, the Lightning would score four unanswered goals to seal the win. Andrade retrieved a Moro cross from the left side and tucked it inside the net. Aluyi's goal at 58:16 came off a nice pass from Owusu on a breakaway, while Rowe and Mvogo capped off the team's scoring with goals at 66:41 and 74:42, respectively.
Up next for Lehman is a CUNYAC showdown on the road Saturday, when they face John Jay College. Start time is set for 12:00 p.m.
