Glassboro, NJ - Playing in the NCAA Men's Soccer tournament for only the second time in the programs history, the Lightning (10-4-3) fell 4-0 Rowan University (17-2-1).
The previous time in 2011 Lehman fell to Stevens 3-0.
"It was not the start we had envisioned," commented a disappointed Coach
Toma Gojcevic. "After we gave up a couple of early goals it took us completely out of our game plan." A turnover in midfield and a quick counter attack by the Profs gave Rowan a 1-0 lead in the second minute of play. Brian Dziobak was credited with the goal. Irvin Barreto.
The Profs had the run of play in the first half outshooting the Lightning 13-0.
Ten minutes into the second half the Profs added to their lead as Pete Hall beat Barreto from inside the six yard box. Rowan converted a penalty kick by Shane Doherty in the 68
th minute to make the score 4-0.
"It's been an honor and priveldge to represent Lehman College in the NCAA tournament My four years here those were the best minutes I PLAYED. It's not the way I wanted to go out but it was still an honor to play in the tournament," stated senior
Jesus Marin during the postgame press conference.
