New York, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's swimming and diving traveled on the road, but would ultimately fall to CUNYAC foe Hunter College, 51-31, Tuesday night at the North Pool on the Hunter campus.
The Lightning (2-3) were able to capture five of the 13 events but did not accumulate enough points to win. Among the notable finishers included
Angela Mejia, who grabbed first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:15.57. She would also be victorious in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:01.42, while
Christina Hitchman secured second in the race at 1:06.92.
Freshmen
Carolina Layme and
Yvette Brown placed first and second in the women's 500-yard freestyle with times of 10:23.09 and 11:10.37, respectively.
Elsa Diaw also was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:51.93. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of
Belkys Perez, Katherine Guzman,
Hillary Frank and Brown posted a first-place time of 2:51.10.
Up next for Lehman is a dual meet with the men's and women's teams traveling to New Jersey to face Ramapo College Saturday afternoon. Start time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Mahwah.
