Bronx, N.Y. -- The top-ranked Lehman College men's soccer team is looking for their first conference title in five years when they face #2 Hunter College Saturday in the CUNYAC Finals at the Brooklyn College Field. Start time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
The #1 Lightning (9-3-3, 6-0-2 CUNYAC) are currently on a season-best six-game winning streak, coming off an exciting 1-0 victory over Staten Island in the semifinals last Saturday afternoon. Essosa Aluyi notched the game-winning goal in the 27th minute off a
Ramone Rowe pass in the win, while
Irvin Barreto earned the shutout victory to advance to the finals.
They are in their third conference championship in program history, having appeared in 2010 and 2011. Lehman will also look to obtain the school's second CUNYAC title (2011) in program history where they topped Baruch in penalty kicks.
In their only matchup during the season, Aluyi broke a scoreless tie with a golden goal in the 93rd minute as the Lehman prevailed against CUNYAC foe Hunter, 1-0, in overtime September 23rd at the South Field.
