Bronx, NY - The Lehman College baseball team is fresh off their spring trip to Myrtle Beach where they posted a 2-5 mark against quality competition. Lehman will start an eight game home stand beginning Saturday as the Old Westbury Panthers (7-3) invade the South Field for an 11:00 AM twin bill. The Panthers just returned from Florida where they went 4-2.
This will be Lehman's home opener and first game of the season in the north. Chris Lopez was the big bat in South Carolina as the slugger produced 10 hits in 25 at bats. He also knocked two homers and leads the squad with 12 RBS.
Natanael Toribio and
Socrates Arevalo are also batting .400 through the first week of the season.
Tommy Ziegen leads the Panthers with 18 hits and 14 rbi while batting .419.
The following day the Lightning will host St. Joseph's (Bklyn) at 11:00 AM in a double header. The Bears went 0-5 in their trip to Florida and travel to CSI on Saturday for a double header before venturing to the South Field.
Game Program Live Stats Tennis will open the season at Rutgers Camden. The match will get under way at 1:00 PM.
The Softball team will open the season with a twin bill against the Maccabees of Yeshiva University. It will be the season opener for both teams.
Rookie Head Coach Don Gannon will lead a team that features seven freshmen. The Lightning will look to pitcher
Meghan Bravo,
Linda Resto and
Chariny Graciano to provide much needed leadership to the young Lightning.
