Jersey City, NJ – The Lehman College baseball team made it three in a row with an 8-6 victory over New Jersey City (7-4) in a non-conference contest.   The Lightning (5-11) scored one run in their half of the eighth to take a 6-5 lead however the Gothic Knights got the equalizer in their final at bat.  Lehman was able to plate two in the top of the tenth to earn the hard fought victory.

Lehman plated the first run of the game in their first at bat when Nataneal Toribio drove a triple in the right center gap to score Carlo Francisco.  The Gothic Knights answered right back in the home half of the first as they were able to manufacture a run.  After three scoreless innings the bats of both teams started to heat up.  Lehman plated a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth; while NJCU scored one in the fifth, sixth and two in the seventh.

In the tenth, Matt Prevosti drew a walk.  Anthony Careccia laid down a perfect bunt that just died on first base line and after a valiant dive by relief pitcher Anthony Carfora trying to tag Careccia, the Lightning had first and second with no-one out.  After a pop out foul ball, Steve Cuello was able to reach on a fielder's choice that sent Prevosti to third.  With two outs, Carlo Francisco hit a bloop single down the right field line to score Prevosti.  Back to back walks by Toribio and Chris Lopez gave the Lightning an insurance run.    The Gothic Knights were able to get their first two batters on base in the home half of the tenth but relief pitcher Juan Arias was able to settle down and get the final three outs to preserve the win.

Francisco continues to swing a hot bat for the Lightning.  The centerfielder went five for six with a run scored and was credited with two runs batted in.  Toribio was also credited with a multi-hit game going two for four.  The Lightning delivered 14 hits and were able to draw 10 walks.  Juan Arias earned his first victory of the season pitching a scored 1.2 innings.
