Lopez’s Two Round Trippers Leads Lightning to Victory

Box Score Myrtle Beach, SC - The Lightning continued their Spring Trip to Myrtle Beach with a 9-3 victory over Penn College of Technology. Lehman improves to 2-3 while the Wildcats fall to 1-3.

The Lightning put up four runs in the top of the first. Toribio led the game off with a single and promptly stole second. After a walk to Carlo Francisco, Steve Cuello singled to load the bases with no outs. Chris Lopez than delivered the big blow, a grand slam home run. The Wildcats finally got on the board in the fourth but not before Lehman added one in the third. Penn College plated two more runs in the sixth but the Lightning responded with three in seventh. Lopez led off the inning with another homerun. A double by Juan Arias and singles by Matt Prevosti and Geraldo Rodriguez rounded out the scoring.

Arias went three for five with three hits and three runs scored. Lopez was two for five, two home runs and five runs batted in.

Tommy Montilli pitched 5.2 innings giving up two hits and an earned run while striking out 8. Mike Del Santos pitched 2.1 innings and despite not giving up any runs, struck out two and gave up two hits. Juan Arias struck out the side in the ninth.

The Lightning will continue to play at the Ripken Experience Tuesday and Wednesday with a contest against Swarthmore. Live stats will be available with the first pitch scheduled for 10:00 AM.
