Box Score Brooklyn, NY – The Lehman College baseball team played their first CUNYAC double header of the season at MCU Park in Brooklyn against John Jay. The teams split contests with the Bloodhounds wining the first game 6-5 and the Lightning blanking John Jay 6-0 in the nightcap. It was the third shutout of the season for Lehman (7-15:1-1). John Jay is 8-17 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
In game two
Jose Albrincole pitched a complete game to post his second win of the season. The freshman hurler was struck-out four and walked only one while scattering six hits. The Lightning bats came alive in the second game as Lehman banged out 13 hits.
Juan Arias was a perfect 4-4 with 2 RBI.
Natanael Toribio and
Steve Cuello each recorded three hits while
Carlo Francisco posted two hits.
Lehman jumped on top in the first inning as the Lightning scored two runs on four hits. Cuello singled to right to start the game, Francisco, the next batter, stroked a triple to right and Toribio immediately knocked a single to give Lehman a 2-0 lead. The Lightning doubled in their lead in the third as they plated two more runs on three singles. Lehman was able to plate runs in the fifth and seventh inning for the final margin of victory.
In game one, the Lightning jumped out to a 3-0 leads after scoring a run in the second, third and fourth inning. However, the Bloodhounds rallied with three of their own in the bottom of the fourth. The game stayed tied until the top of the last frame when Lehman plated two runs to take a 5-3 lead. In their final at bat the Bloodhounds scored three more runs to secure the victory.
Chris Lopez was the offensive star in the first game as he went two for four with an RBI. He was the only player to register multi-hits. The Lightning were credited with seven hits.
Lehman is back in action Monday afternoon at Centenary College (NJ).
