Box Score 2 NEW YORK --- The Lehman College baseball team split their CUNYAC double-header at the City College of New York on Saturday at Randall's Island. The Lightning of Lehman (8-19 / 2-4 CUNYAC) won the nightcap, 8-4, while the Beavers of CCNY (4-25 / 1-2 CUNYAC) took the first game.
Junior third baseman
Juan Arias keyed the offense in the game two victory, going three-for-four and driving in three runs. It started in the top of the third when, with the score tied 1-1 and the bases loaded, Arias doubled to left field to put the Lightning up by three runs. Junior right fielder
Miguel Melendez drove in Arias two batters later and Lehman took a 5-1 lead. In the top of the fifth, Melendez hit a sacrifice fly to score Arias once again for a 7-4 advantage. Sophomore center fielder
Carlo Francisco went three-for-four with an RBI base hit. Junior
Francisco Pena earned the win, coming into the game in relief to pitch four shutout innings, striking out nine Beavers in the process.
Earlier in the day, freshman
Jose Albrincole allowed just three hits in five innings, but still took the loss as the Lightning bats went silent.
Lehman will be back on the field on Wednesday when they travel to Farmingdale State for a 4:00 p.m. game.
