Essosa Aluyi scored in the last few minutes of regulation to send the game into overtime as the Lehman College men's soccer team played to a 2-2 tie on the road against CUNYAC foe City College of New York, Wednesday afternoon at Randall's Island.
Aluyi's score in the 84th minute was his team-best third goal of the season for the Lightning (2-2-3, 0-0-2 CUNYAC).
Ramone Rowe tallied his first score of the season in the 24th minute of the first half, while
Abdaulaye Bassirou dished an assist.
The Beavers (3-4-1, 1-0-1 CUNYAC) got goals from both Kenan Redzematovic and Miguel Muniz, while goalkeeper Maxwell Berkow stopped four shots on goal. Abdul Adbulai tallied two assists on the game, while Stephanos Hondrkis notched an assist of his own.
CCNY wasted little time in the first half, as Redzematovic scored at 5:39 off passes from Hondrkis and Abdulai. At 23:55, Rowe tied the score up with a goal and would be the final goal before halftime. After a defensive struggle throughout most of the second half, the Beavers moved ahead when Muniz netted his second goal of the season at 76:01.
Aluyi would respond at 83:26 with a goal to send the game into extra time. Both teams went shotless in the 20 minutes in overtime as Lehman earned their third tie of the season.
