Box Score Purchase, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team could not find the back of the net, and could not stop a second-half scoring run as they were defeated by Manhattanville College, 5-0, Wednesday night at GoValiants.com Field.
The defeat snapped a four-game unbeaten streak for the Lightning (3-3-3).
King Owusu and
Bryan Yanza fired the two shots on goal throughout the gamer, while
Jesus Marin made four saves in the second half.
A balanced attack led the Valiants (7-3) to their fourth straight win. Nicholas Capri capitalized on a free kick with a header inside the box at 13:00 for the first score of the game. A solid defensive battle kept the score at 1-0 at halftime.
The second half saw Manhattanville compile 14 shots for a total of 21 in the game (11 on goal). Christian Araujo began the second-half flurry with a shot from 30 yards out at 66:26. Ingebreth Mossige followed with a goal in the 83rd minute, then Simon Espinosa beat the keeper on a penalty kick at 84:52. Kheenan Chouapi finished the scoring with a goal at 87:19 to seal the win.
