Box Score Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team fell behind early, and could not climb back in the contest as they dropped their first decision of 2016, a 6-2 loss to non-conference New Jersey City University on Wednesday night at the South Field.
The Lightning (1-1-1) got their first goals of the season from
Irvin Rivera (Bronx, N.Y.) and
Essosa Aluyi (Elmont, N.Y.) in a losing effort.
Ramone Rowe (Bronx, N.Y.) dished out the lone assist for Lehman, while both
Irvin Barreto (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and
Jesus Marin (East Harlem, N.Y.) stopped three shots each in net.
Davauni Brown notched a hat trick and an assist on the day for the Gothic Knights (4-0), while Omar Ventura tallied two assists to go with the opening goal in the 3rd minute of play.
New Jersey City jumped out of the gate with a Ventura goal at 2:01, then Brown followed off a Ventura throw-in. Rivera answered with his goal at 35:13 to cut the deficit to one at halftime. In the second, Brown scored just 1:31 into the half on a penalty kick then scored again. Aluyi made a nice dribble move for his first goal of the season at 77:35 in a losing effort.
Lehman will seek their second win of the season Sunday, when they head up to face the College of New Rochelle. Start time is set for 1:00 p.m.
