Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's and women's swimming and diving teams will seek their first CUNYAC victory of the 2016-17 as they return to action for the first time in four weeks to face CUNYAC foe Baruch College Thursday night.
The women's team (2-5, 0-2 CUNYAC) seeks their first conference win after dropping a 128-91 decision to Staten Island December 16th.
Yaidee Nieves who secured a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:19.71 as well as second in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:21.98 in a losing effort.
Her performance earned her the Lehman College Student-Athlete of the Week honor for that week.
Lehman will face a Baruch squad (4-4, 3-1 CUNYAC) ranked near the top of the conference with wins over York (N.Y.), CSI, and John Jay earlier in the season.
On the men's side (3-3, 0-1 CUNYAC), they are coming off a 157-74 defeat against the College of Staten Island December 16th.
Among the notable finishers that day were the first-place winners in the 200-yard medley relay team of
Christopher Fischer,
Francis Turbi,
Adam Acevedo and
Ryan Sanchez with a time of 1:49.91. In the 50-yard freestyle, Fischer nearly earned first but finished in second place with a time of 23.50 while Acevedo placed third at 24.74.
They will be facing a Bearcats team (3-3, 1-1 CUNYAC) who return to action after a long layoff against Brooklyn College. Baruch has one victory in the conference over York (N.Y.) and lost a close matchup against the same CSI team in November.
