Box Score 2 Myrtle Beach, SC – The Lehman College baseball team drops games against Penn State Berks and Catholic University to fall to 1-6 on the young season. The Lightning will conclude their southern road trip tomorrow as the take on Roanoke College at 6:00 PM.
Against PSU – Berks,
Steve Cuello led off the contest with a single and stole second. Newcomer Jeff Ledesma then cleared the fence with a two-out homer to give the Lightning a lead. Lehman tacked another run on in the second as Geraldo led off the frame with a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. Two batters later a Cuello single plated Rodriguez. PSU- Berks got two back in the bottom of the second to cut into the Lightning advantage. The Nittany Lions drew even in the bottom of fifth but the Lightning were able to answer right back in sixth. The Lightning again produced with two –outs. Five consecutive batters reached base on two singles and a pair of walks to give Lehman a 5-3 lead. The Nittany Lions scratched out a run in the sixth and then finally took the lead for the first time in the seventh when they plated two more runs. PSU Berks added an insurance run in the eighth.
Against Catholic the Cardinals scored often and early as they plated 10 runs in the first three innings en route to a 14-1 decision. The lone Lehman run came in the second inning. Chris Lopez drew a two out hitch by pitch and later scored on a double of
Jaime Maldonado.
Lehman concludes their time at the Ripken Experience tomorrow against Roanoke.
