Lightning Fall Twice at Baruch

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Lightning came out on the short end of both games against Baruch (10-12) in a double header that was played at Westchester Community College.

Lehman (6-18) dropped the first game 7-6.  Defensive miscues cost the Lightning in game one.  The Bearcats scored all seven runs in in the fourth inning; an inning which featured three Lightning errors and six Bearcat hits.  The Lightning got on the score board in the first.  Steve Cuello and Matt Prevosti drew walks to start the game a fly out and wild pitch moved both runners up.  Cuello was able to score a line out to center field.  In the third the Lightning added another run. Cuello reached on an error and later scored on a wild pitch to give the Lightning a 2-0 lead.  After the Bearcats big inning the Lightnign answered right back with four runs in the top of the fifth.  Anthony Riley led off the frame getting hit by pitch.  A Cuello single and a Matt Prevosti double, scored Riley and gave the Lightning second and third with one out.  Lehman then got a homerun by Jeff Ledesma to make the score 7-6.

Lehman was credited with eight hits in the first game.  Cuello and Brandon Castillo each recorded two.

In the second game Lehman again came out on the short side of a 5-3 decision.  The Lightning again jumped out on top.  Cuello led off the game with a walk and move to second as Prevosti reached on an error.  Ledesma reached on a fielder's choice that forced Prevosti at second.  After a strike out, Castillo singled up the middle to plate Cuello.  Baruch answered in their half of the inning; as three hits and a walk led to a pair of runs.  Baruch added a run in the third.  Lehman manufactured a run in the fifth and one more in the sixth but not before the Bearcats plated two more in the fifth.

Baruch hurler Paul Sirakowski went the distance only giving up two Lightning hits while striking out 13.

Lehman returns to action on Monday afternoon when they travel to St. Joseph's Brooklyn.
