Box Score Valhalla, N.Y. -- The Lehman College baseball team jumped out of the gate with early runs then erupted in the latter innings to defeat Mount St. Vincent on the road, 23-3, Tuesday night in Valhalla.
The win snapped a seven-game losing streak for the Lightning, as they earned their seventh win of the season and earned the season series win over Mt. St. Vincent. The Dolphins fall to 8-21 overall.
A total team effort, 12 different Lehman players plated a run in the victory.
Jeffrey Ledesma went two-for-three with three runs scored and a game-high three RBI.
Juan Arias along with
Brandon Castillo,
Christopher Lopez and Natanael Toribio each drove in two runs. Arias, Castillo, and
Steve Cuello each laced three hits each as the team totaled 19 hits.
On the mound,
Emmanuel Velasquez improved to 4-3 on the season as he allowed two earned runs on four hits through six innings with seven strikeouts.
Lehman would strike first in the first inning, scoring two runs on Ledesma's bases-loaded walk and Matt Prevosti's RBI triple to left-center. Castillo would lace a two-run double in the third to extend the lead, then Cuello would score on an error to make it 5-0. The Lightning scored two more in the sixth, then followed with six in the seventh along with five runs each in the eighth and ninth to cap off the big win.
The road trip continues for the Lightning tomorrow, as they travel to Purchase to face Manhattanville College. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m.
