Steve Cuello connected on two home runs, including the game-winning three-run homer in the eighth, as the Lehman College baseball team rallied to defeat the College of Staten Island, 9-8, Monday night at the South Field.

With the win, the Lightning (10-24) now have been victorious in back-to-back games as they build momentum for the CUNYAC playoffs coming later in the week.

James Cisco took a moment to recognize the Go 4 the Goal effort his team took part in today. The Lightning donned gold shoe laces and wrist bands with helping kids battling cancer.
"The mission of Go 4 the Goal to improve the lives of children battling cancer by providing financial support, developing and implementing unique hospital programs, funding innovative research, and granting personal wishes, " said Cisco prior to first pitch.

Cuello drove in five runs on the day on his two homers while also scoring three runs on the day. Both
Natanael Toribio and
Jeffrey Ledesma ripped two hits and collected an RBI apiece. Chris Lopez plated a run on an RBI single.
On the mound,
Jose Albrincole earned his second win of the season in relief, and
Matthew Prevosti come on in the ninth for his second save.
Both teams struck early as both the Dolphins (23-10-1) and Lightning scored a run in the first inning. After CSI scored on a wild pitch in the second, Cuello launched his first home run of the day (two-run shot) to put them back ahead.
Staten Island would tie it in the fourth at 3-3, but Lopez's RBI single in the fifth pushed Lehman back ahead. CSI seized control of the lead, scoring two runs each in the sixth and seventh innings. The seventh saw the Lightning chip away at the deficit, as Toribio lined a run-scoring single and Ledesma scoring on a double steal to make it 7-6.
The Dolphins would tack on a run in the top of the eighth on a fielder's choice to extend the advantage to 8-6. In the bottom half of the frame, Prevosti drew a leadoff walk, then Arias followed with a single into left field which put the go-ahead run at the plate. With one out, Cuello belted a three-run homer to center to give Lehman the 9-8 edge.
???????Prevosti would come in from playing third to close out the ninth with minimal damage, recording his second save of the season.
Lehman returns to action tomorrow for their regular season finale, as they host New Paltz at the South Field. It also will be Senior Day, as the seniors on the squad will be recognized for their achievements throughout their school tenure.
