The Lehman College athletic teams begin their regular season action later today as three teams are in action. The men's soccer team will host Sarah Lawrence at 5:00 PM on the South Field. The women's tennis team will travel up to Sarah Lawrence for a 5:00 PM match. The women's soccer team will travel to Centenary College and participate in the Cyclone Kick-off Classic.
The men's soccer team is looking to repeat as CUNYAC champions and make a return trip to the NCAA tournament. Coach
Toma Gojcevic returns most of his squad from a year ago. Last season the Lightning finished 10-4-3. Leading goal scorer
Essosa Aluyi leads the list of returnees. The senior found the back of the net nine times a year ago. The Lightning will have to replace CUNYAC Championship MVP

The women's tennis is also looking to keep the momentum going from a year ago. Last season the Lightning rewrote the record book as they produced a school record 14 wins, 13 of which were consecutive. Leading the charge this season will be returning CUNYAC MVP
Sacha Espiritu and CUNYAC Rookie of the Year
Lizaveta Markouskaya. Espiritu was an impressive 10-1 in singles matches and 11-1 in doubles play during the 2016 season. Markouskaya posted a record of 8-5 in singles and 12-2 in doubles. This is the opening match of the season for both teams.

The women's soccer team travels to Hackettstown, NJ to participate in the Cyclone Kick Off Tournament hosted by Centenary University. Lehman will take on the hosts at 3:00 PM this afternoon. Last season, the Lightning finished the season with a record of 8-8-1. Leading the way for the Lightning will be a group of veterans including Gredia Sanchez, Pam, Sanchez,
Lillian Barreto,
Daisy Gomez and Estefany Balbueno.
