Lightning Soccer Teams In CUNYAC Action This Wednesday

Bronx, N.Y. – Both respective Lehman College soccer teams will be in CUNYAC action this Wednesday as men's squad hosts CCNY at 5 pm, while the women's side travels to take on Brooklyn College at 6 pm.

The Lightning men, who are looking to secure a spot into the CUNYAC Postseason, hold a 5-8-1 record and are currently fourth in conference play with a 3-3-1 mark.  The Beavers, who are seventh in CUNYAC standings, have a 2-4 ledger in the conference standings (2-9-1 overall).

Lehman is coming off a scoreless draw against hosts and second-seeded playoff bound Baruch College last Saturday at Randall's Island.  Also last Saturday at Randall's Island CCNY dropped a 2-1 CUNYAC match to Hunter College.

The Lightning, who are on a skid of 420 minutes without scoring, are unbeaten in the last three outings against the Beavers.  The previous meeting took place on September 20, 2017, as forward Salh Alzubidi notched two goals, while midfielder Omar Moro added another to lead Lehman to a 5-0 home-victory at South Field.

Fans who cannot make it to the campus venue can follow all of men's soccer action online via live stats and live stream.

Elsewhere on Wednesday, the Lightning women (6-4-1, 2-1 CUNYAC) are also aiming for a playoff berth as they visit the Bulldogs (2-8, 1-2 CUNYAC) at Brooklyn College Field.

Lehman dropped a 4-0 non-conference road encounter last Sunday against Western Connecticut State, while Brooklyn was also away during the weekend as it lost 10-0 to Ohio Wesleyan University.

The Bulldogs lead the head-to-head women's soccer series against the Lightning, 5-3, however Lehman has won two of the last three meetings.  The previous encounter between the two was on Oct. 21, 2017, as midfielder Daniela Castro scored twice, while teammates Daisy Gomez and Melanie Siranaula had a tally each to pace the Lightning to a 5-0 victory against the visiting Bulldogs at South Field.
