Lehman Soccer Teams In CUNYAC Action This Wednesday At South Field

Bronx, N.Y. – Both respective Lehman College soccer teams will be in CUNYAC action this Wednesday at South Field as the men's squad takes on Hunter College in first round of conference postseason at 4:30 pm, while women concludes the regular season against CCNY at 7 pm.

The Lightning men (6-9-1; 4-3-1), who are two-time CUNYAC Champions, are third seeded in the conference tournament and will face-off against sixth seeded Hawks (5-8-2; 3-3-2).  The winner of this match-up will advance to CUNYAC Semifinals and take on second seeded Baruch College on Saturday in Brooklyn College Field.
Lehman has won four of the last five encounter against Hunter, however the previous meeting went to the Hawks this season (on October 3rd) as midfielder William Benitez's tallied only goal in 1-0 win.

The last victory by the Lightning against the Hawks came on September 23, 2017, as forward Salh Alzubidi scored game-winner (1-0) for visitors at Randall's Island.

Also on Wednesday at South Field, the Lehman women's side (7-5-1; 3-2 CUNYAC) looks to secure the third seed at postseason tournament when it meets CCNY (9-5; 3-2 CUNYAC) in season's finale.  A victory would seal the Lightning the third spot in CUNYAC Women's Championship next week at Brooklyn College.

The Beavers have a 5-3 overall head-to-head record against the Lightning, however, Lehman has won three of the last four encounters.  The last meeting was held on Sept. 20, 2017, as midfielder Daisy Gomez notched a hat-trick, while teammates Daniela Castro and Melanie Siranaula each added a tally to lead the Lightning to a 6-3 victory over the hosts Beavers.

Lehman is coming off a heartbreaking 2-1 home loss to John Jay College (second seeded in CUNYAC Postseason), last Saturday.  Meanwhile, CCNY posted an 11-0 road victory against non-conference rival College of New Rochelle last Friday.
