Box Score 2 Myrtle Beach, S.C. - The Lehman College baseball team faced a daunting task when they faced 7-1 Bridgewater in a doubleheader on Monday in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Lightning took game one, 3-2 and fell in the nightcap, 10-1.
Lehman entered game one in sore need of a strong pitching performance, and they got it from Rich Frommelt and Jarret Oehler. Frommelt threw the first four innings, surrendered just one run and three hits to earn the win. Oehler tossed the final three frames, also gave up a run, but fanned four. Offensively, Lehman scored twice in the third and again in the fifth. In the second, Carlo Francisco singled, Mark Vargas drove him in with a double and came in on an RBI hit from Namir Garcia. The run in the fifth came from a one out single by Michael Zerbo and an RBI two-bagger from Francisco.
Game two went to Bridgewater, 10-1. Lehman got its run when Julius Puryear walked and came in later when Zerbo reached on a bases loaded, base on balls.
The Lehman College baseball team returns to action on Tuesday, March 6, when they close out play in Myrtle Beach against Hampden-Sydney College. The first pitch is slated for 6 PM.
