Baseball Drops Doubleheader to CCNY

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 New Rochelle, NY - The Lehman College dropped a CUNYAC doubleheader to CCNY on Saturday in a pair of games played at Salesian High School in New Rochelle.  The Lightning were blanked in the opener, 8-0 and lost game two, 5-4.

Lehman collected just four hits in game one, with two from Michael Zerbo and one each from Carlo Francisco and Mark Vargas.  Rich Frommelt took the loss in the game and is now 1-1 on the season.  Game two was a bit more competitive.

Jose Albrincole was the losing pitcher in game two.  He tossed a complete game and struck out nine.  Lehman fell behind 3-0 after an inning.  They got one back in the third on three singles from David Rodriguez, Vargas and Natanael Toribio.  Toribio got the RBI.  They plated two more in their half of the third and led 5-1 after three.  Lehman rallied again in the sixth, scoring three times.  Toribio led off with a single.  Julius Puryear drove him in with a base hit.  He later scored an unearned run.  The final tally of the inning came on an RBI double from David Rodriguez.  The final was 5-4 for CCNY.

Vargas collected three hits, while Rodriguez totaled two.  The team is now 7-12 overall and 3-3 CUNYAC competition.  They return to action on Wednesday, April 3, when they face Stockton College in Pomona, New Jersey. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
