Baseball Season Commence On Friday With Twin-Bill At Centenary

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team will commence its 2019 season on Friday when it visits Centenary University for a doubleheader at Diamond Nation Field in Flemington, N.J. with first pitch starting at noon.

Under fifth year head coach, James Cisco, the Lightning are aiming to improve their 15-21 record (5-5 CUNYAC) from last year.

Among the 10 Lehman returnees from 2018 is infielder Mark Vargas who was third on the team in batting average .380 with two homers and 23 RBI, while outfielder Namir Garcia had .282 average with 20 RBI.   

Meanwhile, the Cyclones open this season after going 9-21 in 2018.

Centenary has won four out of the last five head-to-head meetings against Lehman, including three straight games.  The previous encounter between the two took place on April 11, 2016, with the Cyclones posting a 9-3 victory at Diamond Nation.
