Myrtle Beach, SC - In their first two games on the southern swing Lehman fell 11-6 to Johnson & Wales (RI) and to Fredonia (NY) 16-1.
In the opener the Lightning were led by freshman shortstop
Henry Gonzalez. The Bronx native was 2 for 4 at the plate with four RBIs.
Jeremmy Santos and
Anthony Riley each picked up a pair of hits as well. Johnson & Wales plated five runs in the top of the second however the Lightning quickly answered with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. The score stayed at 5-4 until the fifth inning when the Wildcats added another run. In the eighth J & W broke the game open with another five runs. Lehman added a run in the eighth and ninth inning for the final margin.
In the nightcap, the Blue Devils scored runs in each of the first six innings. Lehman was able to squeeze out a run in the fourth when
Namir Garcia homered. The Lightning bats were silenced as Lehman managed only four hits.
The Lightning are back in action tomorrow when they face Manchester University at 10 AM.
