Bronx, N.Y. – Two Lehman College athletic teams are in home action this Wednesday as men's tennis side take on Hunter College in CUNYAC play on The APEX Courts at 3:30 pm, while the baseball squad faces Purchase College in a non-conference match-up at South Field with first pitch scheduled for 4 pm.
After playing three of its four matches on the road to open the season, Lightning tennis (0-4, 0-1 CUNYAC) returns to The APEX on Wednesday against the Hawks (2-2, 2-0 CUNYAC). The Hawks have won 14 consecutive matches against the Lightning.
Lehman is coming off a 9-0 non-conference loss at St. Joseph's College-LI last Saturday, while Hunter defeated visiting John Jay College in a CUNYAC encounter, 6-3, at USTA National Tennis Center.
Also on Wednesday, Lightning sluggers (4-11) will look to extend their winning streak when the meet the Panthers (9-4). Lehman is coming off a home sweep of SUNY Poly (6-1, 12-6) in a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday, while Purchase swept a Skyline Conference twin-bill from Yeshiva University, 11-1, 9-4 also on Sunday.
The Panthers have won six of the last nine head-to-head encounters against the Lightning. Last season, teams split a twin-bill at South Filed on Mar. 17, 2018, as Purchase won the opener 8-4, however Lehman took the nightcap, 7-2.
