Lightning Sides In Postseason Action On Tuesday

Bronx, N.Y. – Two Lehman College athletic teams will be in CUNYAC postseason action on Tuesday as the baseball side travels to take on Baruch College, while the softball squad hosts Brooklyn College.

The Lightning baseball (6-16), which finished fourth in conference standings with a 4-8 mark, face the number one seeded Baruch Bearcats (13-9; 11-1 CUNYAC) in postseason semifinal at Flowers Park in New Rochelle, N.Y. with first pitch set for 3 pm ET.

Lehman is coming off a 12-7 non-conference loss at St. Joseph's College-LI to conclude the regular season on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Baruch holds a 29-10 record in head-to-head encounters against Lehman since 2005, including the last six victories.  Both sides met last Saturday in the CUNYAC twin-bill finale at South Field with the Bearcats taking both encounters.  After losing the opener 16-0, the Lightning dropped the nightcap by a score of 9-7.

Also, on Tuesday, Lehman softball (10-14) stages a CUNYAC postseason play-in game after taking the fourth spot in the standings with an 8-12 mark and will face fifth seeded Brooklyn Bulldogs (6-20; 4-16 CUNYAC) at South Field with the first pitch scheduled for 4 pm ET.  Fans can also follow all the action via live stream.

The Lightning are coming off a two-game conference loss at John Jay College, scores of 10-2 and 16-1, respectively, on Saturday to wrap-up the regular season.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs also concluded their regular season dropping both CUNYAC encounters at home, 11-1 and 10-1, respectively, to John Jay last Friday.

Brooklyn holds a slight 16-15 edge over Lehman in the head-to-head meetings since 2007, however the Lightning have won the last 13 encounters.  The previous match-ups against the two sides took place on BC Softball Field as Lehman swept a doubleheader winning the opener by 12-5 score and then took the nightcap, 14-2.
