Box Score 2 Lehman and CCNY split a pair of baseball games today. The Lightning took the opener 4-2 while the Beavers won game 2, 18-2. Lehman now stands at 3-13:3-1 and tied atop of the CUNYAC standings.The Beavers are 6-11 overall and 2-2 in the CUNYAC.
The Lightning got a masterful performance on the mound from
Randy Polanco and
Tran Hennessy as Lehman took the first game of the doubleheader 4-2 in 9 innings. Polanco struck out 7 in 5.1 innings while striking out 7. Hennessy was credited with the victory, going 3.2 innings and striking out three.
The Lightning manufactured a pair of runs in the top of sixth to take a 2-1 lead. Lehman was able to load the bases with a walk to
Ryan Rosa,
Glennd Jarrin reached on a fielded choice eliminating Rosa.
Javaun Smith drew a walk and
Nomar Rijo was hit by pitch to load the bases. Eli Fermin was also hit by pitch to score Jarrin and tie the game at one.
Ranssel Pinedo proceeded to hit a sacrifice fly to right scoring Smith. The Beavers were able to knot the game at 2, in the bottom half of the frame.
The Lightning plated a pair of runs in the ninth.
Patrick Ortiz led off the inning with a walk, after a ground out, a
Jeremmy Santos walk and a pop out,
Erik Then walked to load the bases with two outs. Rosa then delivered the game winning RBI with a single to left plating Ortiz and Santos.
It was all Beavers in the second game as CCNY prevailed 18-2. The Lightning plated their two runs, in the top of the first. With one out,
Javaun Smith singled to right and
Nomar Rijo walked. Eli Fermin then doubled to left scoring Smith.
Justin Nunez was credited with an RBI after grounding out. The Beavers came right back in their first at bat scoring three. The Beavers added 10 runs in the third and four more in the fourth.
Lehman returns to action Thursday afternoon on the South Field as cross county rival CMSV comes to campus. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
