Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College swimming and diving teams both lost CUNYAC encounters against visiting Brooklyn College on Thursday evening at The APEX pool as the men's side was edged out 84-83, while the women's squad fell 112-64.
Adam Byrne and
Brandon Coombs were the highlights for the Lightning men (4-2; 0-1 CUNYAC) as they each won a pair of races on Thursday. Byrne captured the 100 Breaststroke (1:12.32) and 500 Freestyle (5:58.17), while Coombs claimed the 100 Backstroke (1:01.05) and 200 IM (2:05.37).
Christopher Ramirez also won gold for Lehman in the 1000 Freestyle clocking in at 18:33.73.
For the Lightning women (2-5; 0-2 CUNYAC),
Danelli Lora won individual gold in the 1 Meter Diving (94.80) and she was also part of the first-place finishing 200 Freestyle Relay Team (3:08.52) alongside
Abena Abankwa,
Aisling Burgos and
Marlena Thoma.
Avery Engstrom also claimed gold for Lehman in the 50 Freestyle (28.22), while
Ofelia Valadez did the same in the 500 Freestyle (7:15.29).
Both Lightning sides will be back in action next Thursday (January 11th) when they welcome Baruch College in a CUNYAC match-up at The APEX Pool with the first event set for 6 pm ET.
