Bronx, N.Y. – Both Lehman College swimming teams defeated visiting Purchase College, in a non-conference, dual meet, on Tuesday evening at The APEX with the men's side (2-3) posting an 81-20 win, while the women's squad (1-5) obtained a 76-66 triumph.
The Lightning men were led by Roger and
Ronald Sanchez as they each won three events.
Roger Sanchez claimed gold in the 100 Butterfly (1:02.83), 100 Backstroke (1:04.43) and 200 Freestyle (1:59.71), while
Ronald Sanchez finished first in three Freestyle events: 50 (22.75), 100 (51.78) and 500 (5:53.20).
Kenan Suwan also placed first for Lehman in the 200 IM with a time of 3:15.55.
Amya Sanchez and
Arlene Suzana paced the Lehman to victory. Sanchez women captured gold in three events: 100 Freestyle (1:14.86), 100 Backstroke (1:17.99), and the 200 IM (2:47.37). Suzana also took home three first-place finishes. She prevailed in 100 Breaststroke (1:28.16), 500 Freestyle (6:25.45) and 200 Freestyle (2:31.74) for the Lightning, while Gisely Velez won the 50 Freestyle clocking in at 33.49.
Lehman will be back in action next month when it competes at the ECAC Winter Championships at the Nassau County Aquatics Center from December 6-8.
