Brooklyn, N.Y. – The Lehman College swimming and diving teams won both CUNYAC match-ups against the hosts Brooklyn College on Saturday at the West Quad Pool with the men's side (3-4; 1-1 CUNYAC) posting a 107-96 victory, while the women's squad (2-6; 1-3 CUNYAC) triumphed 83-64.
The Lightning men were paced by
Roger Sanchez as he claimed gold in three events: 100 Backstroke (59.07), 100 Breaststroke (1:09.55) and 200 IM (2:13.33).
Ronald Sanchez and
Jefferson Tejera each finished first in two races, as Ronald won the 100 Butterfly (54.97) and 200 Freestyle (1:49.83), while Tejera took the 50 and 100 Freestyles with times of 23.16 and 50.55, respectively.
Romulo Valadez rounded out the Lehman men triumphs on Saturday as he captured the 1000 Freestyle after clocking in at 13:47.27.
For the Lightning women,
Arlene Suzana walked away with four golds (three individual, one team) on Saturday as she finished first in the 50 Freestyle (29.74), 100 Freestyle (1:05.05) and 500 Freestyle (6:36.55). Suzana along with
Mariella Nunez, Gisely Velez and
Maria Pagsuyoin were part of the 200 Medley Relay Winning Team with a time of 2:42.90. Velez also won the 100 Breaststroke (1:41.87), while
Danelli Lora claimed the 1 Meter Diving (132.10). Lora also joined
Lissa Perez,
Shivani Raghuthu and
Abena Abankwa as the winning 200 Freestyle Relay side as they clocked in at 3:46.99.
Lehman is back in action next Wednesday (January 21st) when it hosts William Paterson University, in a non-conference match, at The APEX Swimming Pool with first race set for 6 pm ET.
