New York, N.Y. – Both Lehman College men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Armory Collegiate Distance Carnival at the Armory in Upper Manhattan on Saturday, where the Lightning had 14 athletes finishing in the top eight at individual events against Division I, II and III teams.
The Lehman men were paced by
Charles Howard who won the bronze medal in the Weight Throw (9.56m) and Shot Put (9.12m).
Jalen Alvarado (6.67m) and Isaias Ventura-Feliz (5.97m) finished behind Howard in the Shot Put in fourth and fifth places, respectively, while
Mohamed Donzo was fourth in the Long Jump (5.03m).
Fernando Madrid also captured the bronze in the 800m with a time of 2:24.16, while
Oludemilade Lekan Michael (2:26.72) and
Jonathan Pagan (2:38) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Joshua Bennett took the seventh spot (7.38) in the 60m, while
Rismond Agyemang was eighth (7.42). Bennett also placed eighth in the 200m clocking in at 24.14.
The Lightning women was led by
Shivani Raghuthu as she claimed the bronze medal at the 800m (3:13.17), while she took fifth in the Shot Put (4.92m).
Leila Simmons (8.40) and
Malalia Siafa-Bangura (8.53) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, at the 60m.
Lehman will be back in action next Friday (December 12th) when it travels to Staten Island to participate in the Wagner College Shootout.
