Split Squad Competes at the Armory and Ocean Breeze

Both the Lehman College men's and women's indoor track and field teams gave strong performances on Friday, February 20, competing at the Garden State Track Club Open at The Armory Nike Track and the Fast Track Last Chance meet at the Ocean Breeze Complex. The Lightning posted several season-best marks as they prepare for the upcoming conference championships.

Garden State Track Club Open – The Armory

On the women's side, Torri-Ann Taylor led Lehman in the sprints, clocking 8.84 seconds in the 60-meter dash.

The men's sprint group was led by Linbel Lloveres, who ran 7.66 seconds in the 60 meters and added a 24.79 second finish in the 200 meters, while Joshua Bennett posted a 24.54 second time in the 200 meter as well. Rismond Agyemang competed in both events, finishing with 12.78 seconds in the 60 meters and 26.02 seconds in the 200 meters.

In the 400 meters, Cameron Dennis led the Lightning with a time of 53.33 seconds, followed by Eberto Fernandez  with 55.29 seconds and Mohamed Donzo with 56.19 seconds.

Lehman showed strong strength in the mixed 800m event , they were led by Marc Saint-Hilaire, who delivered one of the top performances of the day with a time of 2:02.76 in the 800 meters. He was followed by Fernando Madrid (2:18.99), Oludemilade Lekan Michael (2:21.80), and Jonathan Pagan (2:30.55), while Shivani Raghuthu led the Lehman women in the event with a time of 3:04.45. 

Fast Track Last Chance – Ocean Breeze Complex

The Lightning throwers continued their strong season at Ocean Breeze. On the women's side, Abena Abankwa led the way with a 9.17 meter mark in shot put and 8.16 meters in weight throw, while Oluwaseun Adetunji recorded 7.23 meters in shot put and 7.06 meters in weight throw. Amariah Emanuel-Tyler also contributed with 3.72 meters in long jump and 6.37 meters in the shot put.

The Lehman men's throwers were led by Charles Howard, who posted 9.77 meters in shot put and a team-best 11.86 meters in weight throw. Jormy Polo added marks of 9.54 meters in shot put as well and 10.73 meters in weight throw, while Daniel Raji-Bolaji recorded 9.74 meters in shot put and 10.56 meters in weight throw. Jalen Alvarado contributed 9.51 meters in shot put and 8.06 meters in weight throw, and Isaias Ventura-Feliz added 6.65 meters in shot put and 6.00 meters in weight throw. On the track, Mohamed Donzo competed in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing with 12.53 seconds. 

Lehman College will now turn its focus to the postseason as the Lightning return to The Armory Nike Track on March 1st to compete in the CUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
