Box Score Danbury, Conn. – For the first time since 2019, the Lehman College men's soccer team has opened its first four games of the season with an unbeaten record after it played to a scoreless draw with hosts Western Connecticut State University at The Westside Athletic Complex on Monday evening. The Lightning improved to a 3-0-1 overall record, while the Wolves go to a 2-4-2 mark.
Lehman entered the encounter having lost all five of the last meetings against Western Connecticut since 2017. The Wolves had previously outscored the visiting side 15 to 2 during those matchups; however on Monday the Lightning held its own despite being outshot 12 to 6.
Each side had a one final chance in the last eight minutes of the match to break the stalemate. Lehman forward Cyrus Blake's shot in the 82nd minute-mark was saved by home-side goalkeeper Zachary Benson, while five minutes later Wolves' midfielder Kauan Brandalise's shot towards the Lightning goal went wide.
Lehman goalkeeper Andres Barajas made three key saves against the hosts for his third consecutive shutout (12th overall career).
The Lightning will look to extend their undefeated streak to five games when it hosts New Jersy City University, in a non-conference encounter, on Thursday (September 18th) at South Field with kickoff set for 6 pm ET.
