Box Score Union, N.J. – For the first time in more than 17 years, the Lehman College men's soccer team has started out its season with a six-game unbeaten streak after defeating the hosts Kean University, 3-1, in a non-conference encounter, at Alumni Stadium on Wednesday evening. The Lightning go to a 4-0-2 overall record, while the Cougars dropped to a 1-7-1 mark.
Lehman opened the scoring in the 25th minute-mark when forward Cyrus Blake his fourth tally of the season.
In the second half, forward Ashraf Abubakar made it 2-0 in favor of Lightning scoring off a direct free kick in the 78th minute.
After Kean forward Andy Mayorga got home side on the board in the 83rd minute, Lehman quickly answered a minute later with its third goal of the game thanks to midfielder Dalton Charlton scored his first collegiate tally off an assist from forward Joseph Ademola Opesanwo.
Lightning goalkeeper Andres Barajas made seven saves for his third victory of the season.
Lehman returns to action next Wednesday (October 1st) when it travels to Jamaica, N.Y. for a CUNYAC match-up against York College-NY at noon.
