Both the Lehman College men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Widener Schuylkill Showdown, in Chester, PA this weekend, with the Lightning putting together strong performances across the throws on Day 1 and meet events on Day 2.
Day 1: Throws
The Lehman throwers opened the weekend with multiple personal records on the men's side. Jormy Polo led the way in the shot put, recording a personal-best mark of 10.65 meters, while also competing in the weight throw with a mark of 9.02 meters. Charles Howard had an impressive day, setting PRs in both events, highlighted by a 11.80 meter PR in weight throw and a 9.72 meter PR in shot put. Daniel Raji-Bolaji added another PR for the Lightning with a 10.44 meter mark in the weight throw, while Jalen Alvarado recorded a 7.34-meter personal best in the weight throw and a 6.48-meter mark in shot put.
On the women's side, Elainne Rojas Mesa led Lehman in the throws, posting a 7.00 meter mark in weight throw and an 8.10 meter throw in shot put. Oluwaseun Adetunji also contributed for the Lightning, recording 6.58 meters in weight throw and 6.04 meters in shot put.
Day 2 – Meet Events
Day 2 action was highlighted by the men's 4x400 meter relay, as the team of Marc Saint-Hilaire, Rismond Agyemang, Jonathan Pagan, and Tyler Rosa finished strong with a time of 3:56.46, closing out the meet on a positive note for the Lightning.
Lehman College continues its indoor season looking to build on the momentum gained from the Widener Schuylkill Showdown as the Lightning prepare for their next competition at Rutgers Scarlet Knights at The Armory Nike and Track Field.
