ZACK DAVIS, EVAUNA NEVILLE, GABRELA HAREWOOD EARN CUNYAC YEAR-END PRAISE

The City University of New York Athletic Conference announced its year-end women's tennis award winners on Tuesday afternoon, and the Lehman College women's tennis team was well represented. Firstly, Lightning skipper Zack Davis was named Coach of the Year for helping lead Lehman College to an overall record of Davis led Lehman to a 12-7 overall record, including a 5-4 mark and the number four seed in the CUNY Athletic Conference. A year ago, the Lightning went just 7-10 overall. In addition, standout Evauna Neville was named a first team all-star, and Gabrela Harewood was named to the second team.

In her senior season, Neville performed beautifully as the No. 1 singles player for the Lightning. In singles competition, she posted a record of 11-3, including a mark of 5-2 in CUNYAC play. She also played on Lehman's No. 1 doubles unit, and, paired with Aurora Peters, she recorded a mark of 10-4 (she was 1-0 in doubles play without Peters as her teammate). In conference doubles matches, she recorded a mark of 5-2.

Harewood played primarily as the No. 3 singles player for the Lightning and posted a mark of 11-4, including a 6-2 record in CUNYAC play. Playing on Lehman's No. 2 doubles team, Harewood posted a mark of 11-5, including a 5-3 record in CUNYAC doubles matches.

Lehman College Head Coach Zack Davis commented after he learned that he received Coach of the Year honors and two of his players were named all stars.

“To be named coach of the year is a terrific honor,” Davis said. “I would like to give the players a lot of credit – they are the ones who played hard and dedicated themselves to being the best players that they could be. As for Neville and Harewood being named all stars, they were very deserving and it was great to see them receive the proper praise.”

The Lehman College women's tennis team turned back the College of Staten Island 5-0 in the CUNYAC quarterfinal round before falling to Hunter College 5-0 in the semifinals.
