Vargas, Sanchez and Nlemchukwu Garner All CUNYAC Accolades

Gabriela Vargas, Amya Sanchez and Elizabeth Nlemchukwu each earned post season CUNYAC Women's Tennis Honors as voted on by the conference coaches. 
 
Vargas and Sanchez were a second team selections while Nlemchukwu was named the Sportsmanship Award winner.  Vargas played first singles and doubles for the Lightning.  During the course of the season, she compiled an 8-4 singles record.  In doubles play she, she ended the season 4-6 playing with three different partners.  Most of the season she played in the number one spot with Sanchez.  The duo compiled a 3-2 mark.  Sanchez, was 5-4 in singles play, primarily playing in the second hole.  When not teamed with Vargas in first doubles she compiled a 1-2 record.    Nlemchukwu was the conference's Sportsmanship Award winner.  Coach Nerenberg praised his follow coaches in their votes and described Nlemchukwu as "a shining star and a true embodiment of sportsmanship. Whether in victory or defeat, she maintains a positive attitude and uplifts those around her. Always ready to step in wherever the team needs her, Elizabeth leads by example through empathy, integrity, and respect for the game. During one match, when an opponent injured their ankle, she immediately paused to check on them—demonstrating genuine care that goes beyond competition. Her consistent display of fairness, compassion, and teamwork makes her the ideal candidate for the CUNYAC Sportsmanship Award."
