MEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM RECORDS CONVINCING VICTORY OVER MEDGAR EVERS COUGARS

The Lehman College men's volleyball team (3-5 Overall, 2-3 CUNYAC) won their second consecutive match, defeating the Cougars of Medgar Evers College (0-10 Overall, 0-5 CUNYAC) by scores of 30-14, 30-21, and 30-19 Thursday evening at Medgar's Carroll Street Gym in Brooklyn, New York.

 

Leading the way for the Lightning in the victory was junior standout RJ LeBlanc who tallied a match-high 17 kills to go along with six service aces, five block assists, and four digs. The sensation also hit .400 on the evening. Junior middle blocker Horrace Morris also chipped in with six kills and three block assists and senior setter Matt De Tiberiis recorded 23 assists and four digs. Following the match, Head Coach Daniel Skilins gave his thoughts.

 

“We played the match with energy from the start, and we were able to take control of the match and get into a rhythm early,” Skilins said. “We've won two straight now, and we hope that we can keep this momentum going heading into Monday afternoon's match with Polytechnic University.”

 

The Lightning dominated the match, hitting .131 as a team while the Cougars hit - .096. Lehman tallied 32 assists the Cougars' 11, and the Lightning also held a significant edge in service aces, tallying 11 to only five for Medgar Evers.

 

Despite the loss for Medgar Evers, Phillip Parris recorded 10 assists and five digs while Eric Anderson recorded two kills and seven digs.

 

The Lightning will return to action on Monday afternoon to take on Polytechnic University at the APEX Center, with match-time scheduled for noon.
