Box Score

The Lehman College men's volleyball team (1-3 Overall, 0-1 CUNYAC) dropped their second consecutive home match, falling to the Hunter College Hawks (7-6 Overall, 1-0 CUNYAC) in a conference contest by scores of 11-30, 12-30, and 13-30 Tuesday evening at the APEX Center in the Bronx.

In the victory for the Hawks, senior Shandu Foster led the way for his team, recording a match-high 10 kills to go along with five service aces. For the evening, the standout hit a whopping .692. In addition, freshman Eric Barty added nine kills and five service aces, and setter Zacarias Ripoll recorded a match-high 21 assists. The Hawks hit .390 as a team and recorded 21 assists as a unit.

Despite the loss for the Lightning, standout Jonathan Cruz led the way with six kills to go along with two blocks. Junior sensation RJ LeBlanc added four kills and four digs, and setter Nate Martin chipped in with 10 assists. Following the match, Head Coach Daniel Skilins gave his thoughts on his team's performance.

“They threw everything at us but the kitchen sink and their jump serving and middle attack is terrific,” Skilins said. “We never really were able to establish rhythm, and we didn't play up to our potential, but we'll have another shot against them later in the season when we'll be a completely different team. Hats off to them though, they are an exceptional team.”

The Lightning will next travel to Jamaica, Queens to participate in a CUNYAC multi-match at York College, as Lehman will battle Baruch College and Brooklyn College in two crucial league contests.
