The Lehman College men's and women's basketball teams will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at the APEX Center when the squads host the Hunter College Hawks in CUNYAC action on Alumni Day. The women's tilt is scheduled for noon, while the men's contest tips-off at 3:15pm. Fans unable to make it for the game can click here for live statistics of the women's game, while those interesting in tracking the men's progress can hit here for live stats of the men's contest. Audio for both games is available by clicking here.
In between the two games, the Lehman College athletics department will hold its annual Alumni Day basketball game, a contest that features numerous former Lightning players from both the men's and women's basketball teams. The game brings back many special memories for the players as well as Head Coaches Eric Harrison and Steven Schulman.
In the first game of the afternoon, the Lehman College women's basketball team will be shooting for its seventh consecutive victory. The Lightning, facing a very competitive schedule, put forth an 8-8 record through the season's first 16 games, but the team is hitting on all cylinders as of late and it will be looking to keep its winning streak alive against the Hawks tomorrow afternoon. Lehman College already defeated the Hawks once this season, turning back Hunter College 82-55 at the Hunter Sportsplex back on January 9th. The Lightning have received tremendous contributions from a number of different players during their streak, including sensation Sally Nnamani who enters tomorrow's game with 1,962 career points, just 38 points short of 2000.
After the Alumni complete their game, the Lehman College men's basketball team will take the court boasting an 8-2 record in CUNYAC play. The Lightning, after starting their season 2-3, have won 14 of their last 17 games and are getting contributions from a number of different sources during the team's surge. When the Hawks come to the APEX Center tomorrow, the Lightning will be looking to improve their positioning in the upcoming CUNYAC tournament. If the season ended today, the Lightning would finish as the No. 3 seed, but the team can still finish as high as No. 1 or as low as No. 5. Lehman defeated the Hawks once already this season, 81-65, back on January 9th at Hunter's Sportsplex. The Lightning will try to have history repeat itself tomorrow.
Admission to all Lehman College home contests is free, so come on over to the APEX Center tomorrow afternoon and show your Lehman pride!
